Four teams from BCE competed in the DI Regional Tournament at Cedar Ridge HS on Saturday, February, 17th. Destination Imagination (DI) is a project-based learning experience that applies the creative process across seven challenge areas—Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisation, Service Learning, and Early Learning/ Rising Stars.

Engineering Challenge: Drop Zone – Design, build and test a freestanding structure that can withstand impacts from dropped weights. Tell a story about a sudden event with dramatic impact.
2nd place, qualified for DI State Competition. First in group for ‘Story’ and ‘Team Choice Elements’.
Rainbow Puppies – Olivia Szymczyk, Anaiya Chachra, Asvini Thivakaran, Hansika Perisetty, Hasini Burlagadda, and Sydney Solomon
Technical Challenge: Maze Craze – Design and build a device to navigate a maze; build a prop that transforms in the maze; Create and present a story about a journey through the maze.
3rd place. They are one of the youngest teams in the competitive level. First in group for ‘Events’.
Dragons of Creativity – Anya Loo, Emily Wong, Ishaan Bansal, Landon Iley, Ramaakshay Malireddy, Zayan Siraj
Service Learning: Inside Impact – Identify, design, carry out, and evaluate a project that addresses a need in a real community and a live presentation that highlights the project and the impact it made on the community.
2nd place. First in group for ‘Instant Challenge’. (Eligible to be a Bonus Team at State, results pending)

Explore how children of different cultures live, learn and play; Create and present a play that tells a story about 2 different cultures.
