Mayor Morgan Visits BCE

Round Rock’s Mayor, Mr. Craig Morgan, visited BCE on Thursday, May 3rd!  He had a jammed packed schedule!

First, 2nd grade had the honor listening to Mr. Morgan discuss the importance of our local government and his role in Round Rock. Through Social Studies, the students studied and researched the functions of our local government and local public officials. The students focused their learning on the election process, Mayor Morgan’s specific roles within Round Rock, and how citizens participate in their own community. All of the students enjoyed asking questions and learning about the impact they can make, even as 2nd Graders,  within our community! Mayor Morgan’s visit to the students was the perfect ending to second grade’s Social Studies unit on local government.

Second, Mayor Morgan, visited with the participants of the Destination Imagination Teams. Destination Imagination (DI) is a project-based learning experience that applies the creative process across seven challenge areas-Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisation, and Early Learning/Rising Stars.   During the visit, each team explained their project and shared thoughts about their overall DI experience.

Lastly, Mayor Morgan, cheered on former BCE students in the district’s  annual Senior Walk Parade. During the parade, Seniors from McNeil and Round Rock High School walked the halls of BCE one final time before their upcoming High School Graduation! Congrats, Class of 2018!
